From October to April, which we call the Go Viking season, Fjord Norway has something unique to offer: A season full of contrasts.
From mystical fjords enveloped in misty fog to sunny autumn days. From islands and skerries of the coast up to steep majestic mountains. Dark, starlit nights followed by bright mornings with the freshest air you can imagine.
In the midst of this unique landscape: The people living here – descendants of the Vikings. Explore their culture and experience the fjords in conditions they have known all their lives. Visit Bergen - winter with a view
The Fløibanen funicular is one of Norway´s most famous attractions and the only one of its kind in
Scandinavia. The trip starts from the city center close to the Fish Market and Bryggen and takes you to the top of Mt Fløyen in just 6 minutes. On the top you can enjoy a hot cocoa and winter activities like  snowshoeing and sledding. The Cable Car Ulriken 643 takes you to the highest of Bergen´s famous “Seven Mountains”. On the top you will find a viewing platform for breathtaking views of the stunning scenery 643 meters above the city. There is also a café and a restaurant that serves everything from hiking snacks to 4-course dinner focused on local specialities.

Winter fun in Sognefjord
Just because the nights are drawing in and the temperature is dropping, it does not mean that adventure is off the cards. Flåm is a beautiful winter gateway with its famous train ride and one of the most popular boat routes in Norway. For those who want to feel the wind, a RIB-boat safari or a snowshoe hike overseeing the magnificent Aurlandsfjord are wonderful options. There are of course the prominent ski resorts: Sogn Skisenter and Hodlekve, just 1,5 hours from Flåm. In the latter, in addition to ski-related activities, you can also enjoy dog sledding with Fjord Husky.

Snowshoeing to the igloo of Myrkdalen
Join Wild Voss at a short, guided snowshoeing trip to an igloo, situated right on the top of Myrkdalen Ski Resort. Hardangerfjord in a nutshell - winter tour
Go Viking in the Fjords and experience the magnificent winter scenery in the inner reaches of the beautiful Hardangerfjord! You travel by fjord cruise, bus and railway from Bergen or Oslo. Starting from Bergen, one overnight stay in Hardanger is recommended, starting from Oslo, two overnight stays are required. On this tour you will enjoy a traditional homemade Norwegian meal in a cosy lavvu and get to experience how Norwegians have fun during winter. Winter adventure in Røldal 
Røldal ski resort, situated about two hours from Haugesund, is known for having the deepest snow in Europe. This is the place for anyone seeking challenges off-piste and unlimited ski terrain with powder snow. Røldal is known for being extremely snow-secure and the skiing season normally lasts from late November to May. The resort has six lifts, cafes, ski rental and a workshop. In addition to this they offer experienced guides for off-piste skiing. More into cross country skiing? No worries, in Røldal you will find about 100 kilometers of cross-country trails.

Storm Watching in the winter season
Winter on the Fjord Coast is all about enjoying the natural wonders. Storm Watching is a fascinating experience and it is a state of mind. It is a time to see the sea beating the stormy tides ashore and listen to the rain drumming on the roof. Some days are sunny and quiet building up both nature and people for the next fascinating winter storm. The Fjord Coast is the stormiest part in the southern parts of Norway. The most reliable time to enjoy the storms is from November through February. We call the winter our storm season – and it is impressive.

Sunnfjordruta – Ski Touring in Glacierland
The mountains of Sunnfjord are a great venue for memorable Ski Touring. Sunnfjord provides the perfect playground for everyone from the savvy to the newbie. The glaciers in the area guarantee snow in large quantities and great conditions for skiing throughout the entire winter. Geiranger – pure, fresh & authentic from October to April
The autumn darkness or winter cold is no obstacle to experiencing Geiranger. This is a magical time in the fjords! It is important to make the most of the few hours of daylight before you pop past an exciting art exhibition or curl up in front of a roaring fire. Autumn in the fjords is a beautiful time to hike, until winter comes around and it is time to strap on a pair of skis or snowshoes. Spring is perhaps the best time for a fjord cruise or safari, when you can spot budding birch trees against the dark blue hues of the fjord and the snow-capped mountains.

Nordmøre - home to a rich food culture and history
Kristiansund and the Nordmøre district is home to a rich food culture and history. Here you can meet some of the people who cultivate delicious local produce and who prepare some of the most glorious dishes in the world. Perhaps it was the beautiful nature and fresh sea air that lured Norway’s first clip fish entrepreneur, the Dutchman Jappe Ippes, to the Norwegian Nordmøre district at the end of the 17th century. Kristiansund subsequently became Norway’s undisputed capital city for clip fish and remained so until the Second World War. The fish’s extensive export to all parts of the world has left some traces in Kristiansund and inspired to local place names like Tahiti and Marokko (Morocco).
